Madonna Pop

This is "Madonna Litta" by Da Vinci. I wanted to welcome the Madonna and Christ child into more modern times, so I gave them a pop look. Using the style of Lichtenstein, I came up with the following image.

Both the Madonna and Christ child are a colored half tone, the rest flat shapes. Some of the uncolored half tone was also left in the blue robe.

Keeping Focus

This image was an experimentation on focus. These 3 images were taken off the internet (Getty Images) and collaged together to create the following scene.

Different blurs were used to create an emphasis. The child was taken out of focus to maintain emphasis on the fly.

Picture Colorization

When I scanned this image in from a photograph, I realized the high-speed scanner I was using gave me a half-tone image. I then scanned the image again multiple times but used different brightnesses. Now with multiple darknesses of the same picture, I was able to lay them over top of each other for a sense of value. I then adjusted the transparency of some layers to create the best representation of a gray-scale image.

This was the final image adjusted to allow for gray tones.

This is the final image after it was colorized. The color lacks the punch of actual re-colorization. However, by leaving them muted, the final image takes on a look that has a vintage "post card" feel, which I really quite enjoy.
